I am currently a candidate in the council elections of Social Science Professionals, a labour market organisation for employees, graduates and students in public or private sector or NGOs. If you happen to be a member, voting instructions can be found here. If you want to hear more, please contact me on social media or send me an email.
Some stories of mine in English can be found at the Ecosprinter and GEJ. At some point I might return to write for the Finnish journalism crowd-funding platform Rapport.fi. I enjoy working on topics such as political decision making and social sciences, but write stories on just about anything that tickles my fancy and that I see an interested audience for.
I am a member of the editorial board of Ecosprinter, the magazine of the Federation of Young European Greens. I used to work as the Editor-in-Chief of Rönsy, the Finnish Green Youth's magazine (from 2014 to 2017).
I have been a member of the Greens since 2006. During these years I have, for example, been the spokesperson of Eastern Helsinki Greens and acted as a board member in Vantaa Greens, Helsinki Greens, and the Green Youth and Student's Union. Currently, I am on my second term as a member of the party council and also part in the working group for the party's next political platform.
I identify as a social liberal. To me this means grasping for as much liberty as possible for all. When individual rights are being limited, there needs to be extremely well-placed arguments for it. Normally it is better to respect individual choice. Yet, as its foundation a just society and a humane world both need wealth redistribution, welfare services and knowledge of the environmental basis of our wellbeing. Solving the climate crisis and ending poverty are boundary conditions for a good future.
I begun my PhD studies in sociology in 2017. I study changes in the occupational and age patterns of mental health risks in the Finnish working age population between the years 1970 and 2014. My work is aiming to be a part of the Rise in mental vulnerability in work life -project at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.
Currently I work as a research assistant at Kela. I worked from summer 2016 to fall 2017 as a research assistant in a project at the Swedish School of Social Science at the University of Helsinki.
I have a Master's in Social and Public Policy from 2016. An article related to my thesis can be found in IJERPH. I also left a Master's thesis in Folklore Studies unfinished in 2012, the only thing missing from that degree. During my studies I also showed interest in economics, urban studies, social and moral philosophy, and film studies - plus the Helsinki Uni's Academic Beer Society.
